Overview

ScrollCamp ("we", "our", "the app") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

Data We Collect

Apple ID information: Your name and email (provided during Sign in with Apple). You may choose to hide your email.
Profile data: Username, bio, and profile picture that you choose to provide.
Screen time data: Daily usage statistics are processed locally on your device. We store daily aggregate totals (minutes used) to track tier progress.
Chat messages: Messages you send in your camp are stored on our servers (Firebase Firestore) to enable group communication.
Device tokens: Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens for push notifications.

Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not track which specific apps you use or block.
We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising.
We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs.

How We Use Your Data

To provide the tier progression and streak tracking features.
To enable camp chat and social accountability features.
To send push notifications about tier changes and camp messages.

Data Storage

Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, and Cloud Storage), hosted in the United States. Data is protected by Firebase security rules that restrict access to authorized users only.

Third-Party Services

ScrollCamp uses the following third-party services to operate:

Google Firebase: We use Firebase for authentication (Firebase Auth), database (Firestore), file storage (Cloud Storage for Firebase), push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging), and server-side logic (Cloud Functions). Google processes data on our behalf under their terms. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Apple Sign in with Apple: Authentication is provided by Apple. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

We do not use any advertising, analytics, or behavioral tracking services.

Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app. This permanently removes all your data from our servers, including your profile, messages, and usage history.

Data Retention

Account data: Retained while your account is active. After you delete your account, your data is soft-deleted immediately and permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
Chat messages: Retained while the camp exists. Messages from deleted accounts are anonymized (sender name changed to "Deleted User").
Usage statistics: Daily usage totals (minutes used) are retained for up to 12 months for tier progression purposes, then aggregated and anonymized.
Reports: Content reports are retained for up to 12 months after resolution for safety and compliance purposes, then deleted.
Push notification tokens: Deleted when you sign out or delete your account.

Report Data

When you report a message or user, we store the report details including the reason, a snapshot of the reported content, and the reporter and reported user identifiers. Report data is accessible only to our moderation team and is not shared with other users. Reports are retained for up to 12 months after resolution and then deleted.

Screen Time & FamilyControls

ScrollCamp uses Apple's FamilyControls API to manage app blocking. All Screen Time data is processed on-device and governed by Apple's privacy protections. We cannot see which specific apps you select to block.

Children's Privacy

ScrollCamp is intended for users aged 13 and older. The app includes an age verification step during onboarding. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has created an account, we will promptly delete it.

Your Rights

For EU/EEA residents (GDPR): You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data. You also have the right to object to processing.

For California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your data, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.

How to exercise your rights: You can manage your data directly in the app (edit profile, delete account, manage notifications). For other requests, contact us at support@scrollcamp.app. We will respond within 30 days.

Cookies

The ScrollCamp website (scrollcamp.app) does not use cookies or tracking technologies. The ScrollCamp iOS app does not use cookies.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
